For the past several days, we have been talking about stress and all the ways in which it sabotages weight loss. And it really does a number on it!!
So what can we do to really take it down, and free the women who are trying to lose weight, but who can't escape the stress in their lives? Keep reading...
It's your brain that remembers if chocolate cake made you feel good when you ate it. And it's your brain that signals you to look for something similar the next time you're feeling stressed or lonely or bored. Every time you respond to something like stress with something like chocolate, you strengthen the connection between the two in your mind. Before you know it, you've got a deeply entrenched habit.
So much of what we do with our eating has to do with habits that have become ingrained. Almost unconscious. but once you become mindful, nothing is unconscious anymore.
There's a pause, an awareness. You get back that moment when you can decide, and it's an empowered moment.
To me, it's similar to relaxation techniques. You know how until you start stretching, you have no idea just how tense you are? And suddenly you want to keep stretching and stretching to get all of the kinks out?
Mindfulness is like that, too. It gives you back so much awareness that habitualness took away.
And once you are empowered with awareness, you can choose to create new habits, in response to stress.
For example, chocolate cake can become chocolate tea. And that tea can be enjoyed during a tea ritual, preceded or followed by a journaling moment that offers yet another chance to get the stress out of your mind, heart and body, and on to the page.
Or there might be a brief mindfulness meditation, or another technique.

(1) Vision Boards - One reason vision boards work so well is because of how well our brains respond to visual cues and stimulation. But we also need to respond emotionally to what we see, and in a positive way.
So supermodel pics are a no-no because they inspire hopelessness!
And visual design is important because you want to feel really pleased and happy when you see it. No wincing because of something that's not quite right.
Positive affirmations help you solidify & visualize your desired way of being or dealing with things in your life. Positive affirmations that you repeat with authority can accelerate the positive life changes you strive for, and improve you overall well-being. -BetterMe
(2) Affirmations - when you want to use affirmations for weight loss or any positive change, it's important not to create more stress by saying something you think is ridiculous.
So if you don't believe it, modify it until you do believe it. You'll know you're there because you won't feel your body react negatively in any when you say it out loud.
For example, "I'm losing all the weight I need to lose," might become any one of these modified affirmations...
I'm ready to lose all the weight I need to lose
I'm beginning to lose all the weight I need to lose
I'm becoming ready to lose all the weight I need to lose
And a statement like "I know I can do it!" might become, I want to believe I can do it, or I'm going to believe in myself.

(3) Journaling - there are several reasons why journaling is said to be a helpful ally on the weight loss journey...
-in the manifestation world, what you write down is said to be more powerful, and more likely to become a reality. Which actually might mean physical vision boards would be better than digital ones.
-experts suggest that if you write something down, it increases the chances that you will follow through with it, so it's a good way to document goals.
-it can be a good tracking device for what you are eating and not eating, and when, if you want to use it that way.
-but also, it offers the opportunity to process your thoughts, feelings and experiences, to amplify affirmations and visualizations, and to get negative energy outside that was inside in the hope that it won't influence you anymore.
